The Complete 8th Season

The Complete 1st Season

Charles in Charge - Nicole Eggert & Ellen Travolta Join Charles In Charge For 2nd Season Set!

Season 2 arrives at last, as part of TV Guide Presents line-up

Posted by David Lambert
Funny how history sort-of repeats itself. Charles in Charge began life on CBS in 1984, working to watch the kids of the Pembroke family, then was cancelled by CBS and came back later, after taking a year off, as a syndicated series with a brand-new family, the Powells, including new cast member Nicole Eggert as daughter Jamie. Also joining the cast was Ellen Travolta, playing Charles' mother. Ellen (one of John's many acting siblings) was no stranger to playing mother to Scott Baio, as she was Chachi Arcola's mom on both Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi.

When Charles In Charge - The Complete 1st Season came to DVD in February 2006, it was released directly by Universal Studios. Now, like before, the show has been "cancelled" by the people who distributed the first season, and is now being "syndicated" for the second season...and presumably onward. Universal has licensed out the show for Charles In Charge - The Complete 2nd Season to be released on DVD as part of the "TV Guide Presents" series. That means it will be distributed by Arts Alliance America's Hart Sharp Video. is owned by Gemstar-TV Guide, but we actually didn't get any special advance info on this set because of that. Instead, we recevied the heads-up from our great friends in the retail industry; thanks as always! You can look for all 26 episodes on a 3-DVD set. Run time will be around 11 hours, and the cost will be a super-nice $29.95 SRP. This will be on store shelves November 20th. Stay tuned for box art.
