T.K. Arnold, our friend over at trade magazine
Home Media Retailing, has an interesting report that
Chappelle's Show - Season 2 Uncensored has set some records as the fastest-selling TV Shows on DVD ever. According to the story, distributor Paramount Home Entertainment says that the May 24th release sold almost a half-million copies just on the street date alone, followed by more than another half-million copies before the first week was over. All told, it seems like 1.2 million copies were snatched up by enthusiastic fans.
No doubt the fast sales were fueled by way of the third season's broadcast delay, along with promotions among the big retailers that made the Season 2 set fairly easy to get during that first week for less than $20 (about half off). This isn't the first time that
Chappelle's Show DVDs made their mark on the record books, either: last Fall there was a
press release stating that the rookie season's DVD set had passed
The Simpsons to become the best-selling TV-DVD ever. Of course, since then
Seinfeld has taken over that top spot, but now the show about nothing is looking over their shoulders once more as Dave Chappelle is gaining fast with a brand-new release. For all the details, read
