The Captain and Tennille, the 1976-77 variety show featuring the popular musical duo, would come to DVD in 2005. Of course, it's the perfect year, considering it will be the 30th anniversary of the hit song that made them stars: "Love Will Keep Us Together."
Now R2 has given us a bit more info to go on. Expect
The Captain & Tennille - The Ultimate Collection to be a 3-DVD set, featuring the best episodes of the series, which was taken over by Dick Clark Productions mid-way through its run. The compilation will come out in
October, and - like
Tony Orlando & Dawn - The Ultimate Collection (due in August) - there will be a Christmas CD tie-in. That CD will even have 2 original songs, "Saving Up Christmas" and "Tahoe Snow." It would be terrific if R2 gave us some extras on the DVD about the production and recording of these new songs, the first brand-new songs for The Captain & Tennille in some time. Well, we don't know if we'll seet that among the supplements on this set, but there WILL be extras, don't worry. Toni and Daryl will be involved, of course, and will be out promoting the release as well. Stay tuned, and we'll have more details for you once things get firmed up on this long-awaited compilation.
