In mid-June 2008, Fox Home Entertainment released the first season of
Burn Notice on DVD. In mid-June 2009, Fox followed up with DVD (and Blu-ray Disc) releases of this terrific show's second season. The program - starring Jeffrey Donovan, Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless - airs on the USA Network, which has so far shown 9 episodes of the 16 which will be produced for the show's third season. Fans have
had word for a while now that the
Cagney & Lacey co-star of Sharon Gless, Tyne Daly, will make a guest appearance on the "winter season" premier episode.
Timed to tie-in with that "Season 3.5" broadcast debut, Fox has announced that they will bundle the first two seasons together on DVD in one new package, which includes a bit of new content. The
Burn Notice - Season 1 and 2 Starter Pack arrives on
January 5th. As you can see from the box art below, it's not just the two existing sets shrink-wrapped together (we usually don't report on that type of bundle); it comes in a new box with artwork from the separate releases combined into a new graphic. And, as you can plainly see from the circular "burst" on the bottom half, it "
Includes FREE download of the of the first episode of Season 3, plus a first look at Season 3.5, premiering on 1/28 on USA Network".
"First look at Season 3.5"...does that the episode that Tyne Daly is supposed to appear in? We presume so, though it doesn't say outright. The other content from the previously available separate releases will also be on board, of course. Cost is $59.98 SRP in the USA, and CA$69.98 SRP in Canada. This is only being offered in the DVD format (we presume that there's no Blu-ray version of this bundle, because a separate Blu-ray version of the first season isn't available yet). It's a wonderful series, with lots of fun and action, so if you haven't jumped into it yet then this is a great way to do it.
