Wow! We've had a HUGE response to our
news post a week-and-a-half ago, which listed out the 60 classic shorts that you can expect to find in
The Looney Toons - Golden Collection Volume 2 box set. Thank you!
In our previous news, we said that we didn't know when it would be released exactly, but that "
in the not-too-distant future, Warner Home Video will announce a release date in late October or early November." We also told you that "
Lots of extras WILL be present, we're told, but no breakdown of them has been given to us just yet." Right after that, we mentioned animation historian Jerry Beck as a probable participant on the extras in that release, which is a logical guess based on his enormous work done for
the first DVD collection.
Now it's come to our attention that Beck has made a short statement in regard to this, in which he stays very tight-lipped due to legal obligations, but nevertheless seems to confirm his participation, and a November timeframe as well:
LOONEY TUNES V.2
I'm bound by a confidentiality agreement not to discuss the contents of the LOONEY TUNES GOLDEN COLLECTION volume 2 (due out in November).
However, a list of the cartoon contents has leaked to the internet (see here) and the buzz on several message boards is very enthusiastic.
I won't confirm or deny the contents just yet, but I will tell you one thing: wait'll you see the list of bonus materials!
That "see here" link Beck gives doesn't lead straight to our previous news, but rather to one of the message board discussions of our news that Beck mentioned. The AnimationShow.com message board, however DOES link straight back to TVShowsOnDVD. We would like to say that we're grateful for the acknowledgement, especially to poster "BPearce"; thanks!.
You can read Beck's statement for yourself
at his BLog, which is posted on the Cartoon Brew website (our thanks to The Digital Bits staff for the heads-up). Scroll down to the June 21st entry to find it.
Warner at this time has neither confirmed nor denied the information, but stay ("looney") tuned...we'll bring you their official announcement the moment we're able to!
