The Bugs Bunny/Looney Tunes Comedy Hour - Complete List of Bonus Shorts, and All Other Extras, for the Golden Collection Volume 6

4-DVD set, with 75 shorts and a ton of extras, is due for DVD on October 21st

Wow, we've had a BUSY day here at TVShowsOnDVD, so we've spent all day trying to get to this news post! This morning animation expert/historian Jerry Beck posted at his Cartoon Brew blog a complete list of the bonus material for Warner's October 21st release of Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 6 on DVD. As we mentioned in our original report about this release, which lists the 60 main shorts included on each disc, Jerry is the man behind the extras on this 4-disc set, and so we know that his info is going to be accurate!

Jerry's post begins with a note that matches what we've said about how this is the final DVD release called "Golden Collection," but that there will be more Looney Tunes DVD releases in 2009, and that there are no plans to double-dip by including episodes already found on the six Golden Collection sets. So it's great to have additional confirmation of that!

And then Jerry brings us the nice, long list of supplements to the the 60 featured shorts:

How does that grab you? It looks terrific to us! There is one thing, though, that we expect to be a downside to the above list...for some fans at any rate,. We had seen that there was a hope "out there" that the 15 bonus shorts listed above would include at least a couple of the "censored eleven" shorts (a list that includes "Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs," for instance)...or at least another dozen more-recently restricted cartoons, some of which might be related to the war theme of this set such as "Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips." However, none of these bonus shorts appear to be among either group.

Still, we want Warner to keep on bringing out releases, and keep on trying to find the nerve to include these...with appropriate disclaimers about the stereotypes of the era they had been produced in. And there are still other great shorts that haven't made it to DVD yet. So, as Jerry comments at the end of his blog post, "your purchase of this collection will help keep the cartoons coming, and will strengthen the message to Warner Bros. that the public wish to continue to buying Looney Tunes on DVD." So be sure to buy Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 6 when it arrives on October 21st...or better yet, lock in your copy with a pre-order!
