Back in mid-January we
reported on Warner Home Video's announcement of two new single-disc titles:
Looney Tunes Super Stars' Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and
Looney Tunes Super Stars' Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl. Both were scheduled to come out on April 27th, but now Warner has informed retailers that they've been delayed...for several months! The new street date given (which we've confirmed directly with the studio) is
August 10th. No reason was provided for the change. Some retailers, including Amazon.com, has already updated their pre-order listings to reflect the new schedule.
UPDATE: At the message board of the GoldenAgeCartoons.com website, in
a discussion about this delay, one poster comments this way: "
I guess that also means that the likelyhood [sic]
of a second set of Looney Tunes Super Stars DVDs this year dropped significantly" That's the second post of the thread; in the third one a response from animation expert Jerry Beck, who consults with Warner about
Looney Tunes DVD releases, replied "
...there will be a second set Looney Tunes Super Stars DVDs this year. In other words, before the end of the year there will be four Looney Tunes Super Star DVDs released." Great to know! Beck also mentions that he will once again be a guest on
Stu's Show, the phone-in talk show on Shokus Internet Radio, this coming Wednesday (March 24th, 4:00 p.m. PT/7:00 p.m. ET). He says that he plans to explain further at that time. Be sure to tune in!
