Yesterday there was some
Looney confusion, as Warner Home Video ("WHV") officially announced the
April 27th single-DVD releases of their first two "
Looney Tunes Super Stars" series titles of
Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and
Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl ($19.98 SRP each). Warner's original info, obtained from their retailer/press site, included a list of shorts for each title. These lists represented 15 new-to-DVD installments for each character, which is what we had been told to expect, so we obviously passed it along to our readers. Later that morning, however, the studio got in touch with us and asked us to remove those lists, informing us that they were unfortunately incorrect.
This morning WHV's password-protected retailer/press site has now been updated with new lists of shorts for each of those titles, and we are going to presume that these are the corrected lists of contents, passing them along to you right away. Still, we'll double-check with the studio's west-coast offices a bit later today, just to ensure we've got accurate info this time. There seems to be very little cross-over between the old an new lists; discuss amongst yourselves.
Also of interest is the studio's "e-announcement" graphic, sent via e-mail to retailers and press, and which we show further down. Primarily aimed at retailers, it lists all the "selling points" for the title (to convince chains to stock the titles on their shelves). On the one hand this advertisement assures us that the shorts are "newly remastered from restored film elements." On the other hand, no bonus material has been mentioned there, or at the press site, at all so far. Interesting (but not necessarily conclusive). Stay tuned and we'll fill you in if we find out anything further!
UPDATE: We've gotten solid information so far about one aspect of these releases: animation expert Jerry Beck, of
CartoonBrew.com, is saying that "
There is no bonus material being planned for these single disc releases." That's a direct quote, and he would know, as he has been the one Warner has consulted with on these releases, and produced the lion's share of extras for the previous "
Golden Collection" releases. Also,
our contact at Warner Home Video has just CONFIRMED that the new lists are indeed accurate. This is the same person who told us that yesterday's studio-provided lists had been mistaken, who now says the below are for-certain the shorts which will be found on these two titles:
