Earlier this week we
let you know that Jerry Beck, the renowned animation expert - who's authored several books on the subject - was visiting our friend Stu Shostak at
Stu's Show, a live call-in interview program on Shokus Internet Radio. That visit took place this past Wednesday, and while I haven't been able to listen to that installment personally, several readers who did get to tune in have told me some of the things Jerry said on the show.
Keep in mind, of course, that Jerry Beck is *NOT* an official spokesperson for Warner Home Video, and was basically speaking casually on the show and responding to call-in questions. So take all info with a grain of salt, as it is not official from the studio, just what Jerry is aware of. Any of it, or all of it, could change by Warner without any input from, or knowledge by Jerry at all.
So, with that warning in mind, let's see what info about the
Looney Toons we missed by not tuning in!
To Jerry 's knowledge, Warner is planning to release
The Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 6 around the first part of
November. Plans right now call for a total of about 76 classic shorts on this 4-DVD set, which - if it happens - would be an extra four cartoons per disc comparied to what we've seen on previous volumes (19 vs. 15). Look for more wartime-era shorts to show up, too. Did Jerry mention any exact titles we might see? Yes, according to folks who wrote in he mentioned a few: "Russian Rhapsody," "Much Ado About Nutting," "Raw Raw Rooster," "Crowing Pains," "Norman Normal," "The Oily American," "It's Hummer Time" and "Horton Hatches the Egg". Keep in mind, though, that this isn't official...none of it is yet.
Of course we'll keep an eye on all of this, and update you as further developments occur. It sounds like it will be a great set as always. Stay tuned!
