Within the past couple of weeks we
broke the news that Warner Brothers is preparing 2 releases on DVD for
February 12th:
Academy Award Animation Collections - 15 Winners (a single disc for $19.98 SRP) and
Academy Award Animation Collections - 15 Winners, 26 Nominees (a three-disc set for $44.98 SRP).
Now the studio has sent out rear box art for both releases, which show the complete list of bonus material on each. For the single-disc "Winners" release, you'll find that 5 of the 15 cartoon shorts have "Expert Commentary" (audio commentary tracks by animation history experts), and that 2 of the 15 have a Music-Only audio track.
For the 3-DVD package with the 15 winners plus 26 nominees, you will find Expert Commentary and/or Music-Only Tracks on select cartoons, plus a new documentary called "Drawn For Glory: Animation's Triumph at the Oscars": it recounts the backstories of several Oscar-contending shorts, and their creators. You'll also get a bonus short called "What's Cookin' Doc?," that itself isn't Oscar-nominated, but instead features Bugs Bunny at the Oscars demonstrating why he deserves to be awarded the statue.
Below is a look at the rear box art for both releases, plus front box art with a peek at the disc art sticking out of each:
