Here it is, we've got your first look at the cover art for
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century - The Complete Epic Series!! This is taken from an advertisement that Universal is targeting at their retail distribution channel, as they try to push hard for big sales starting on the
November 16th release date:
We're very excited to get this set and these episodes, and are VERY pleased that Universal is bringing this out. Our only disappointment here is that the planned extras with the cast of the show - namely Gil Gerard and Erin Gray - were cancelled before any of them were ever recorded. We first reported on that situation
last April, and then in July
we confirmed that the studio still had not changed their minds about involving the stars. Still, we hoped that SOME sort of bonus material would make it onto these DVDs, even if the cast wasn't involved.
A week ago today
we brought you the first look at the menu system for this box set, and there were two shots that Universal had distributed: one differed from the other because it had a menu option for "SciFi Trailers", which we conjectured would have ads for various other Universal Home Video DVD releases with various Sci-Fi Network features (perhaps
Riverworld or the updated version of
Battlestar Galactica). No such luck.
Since then we've been in touch with the studio, and they inform us that the second menu shot - the one with the Trailers option - was deleted from their press media distribution the same day it was initially released, and that every menu on every disc would look like the first one. They went on to tell us that this release will not carry the Sci-Fi trailers, and that in fact the 5-disc set will not carry a single extra at all. None. Zip. Nada.
