It's hard to find anyone who's more excited about the upcoming DVD release of
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century - The Complete Epic Series than yours truly. And, while we all are counting down the weeks, days, and even minutes to the
November 16th in-store arrival of this 5-disc set, we're also wondering, "what's the cover look like?"
Well, Universal hasn't revealed the cover art quite yet, but in the meantime the studio has just made available the menu screens for this release. They've given us two views of the menu structure, each using the same ultra-cool backdrop shot. Here's the first one:
Now, here's the other shot. It looks the same initially, but you will see that on this one there is a new menu choice to view trailers of Sci-Fi Network telefilms that will be released on DVD by Universal:
Those trailers will persumably include an ad for the forthcoming DVD release of the new 2003 take on
Battlestar Galactica, which is expected to be formally announced soon. It's even safer to presume we will see an ad there for
Riverworld, a TV-movie which had been planned to serve as a pilot, based on the concepts in Phillip Jose Farmer's classic stories, but which didn't make the cut to a weekly television series. It steets on DVD the same week as
Buck, along with two other Sci-Fi Channel telefilms:
Control Factor and
Clive Barker's Saint Sinner.
Back on the subject of bi-da-bi-da-bi-da-bi-da
Buck, we're sitting here at TSoD crossing our fingers that a bunch of promo trailers aren't all the extras we're going to get out of this deal. We hope Universal has a few more surprises in them for this title, and I'm keeping a hawk-eye out for info which will confirm or deny that. Stay tuned for updates on the subject, plus the cover art, just as soon as I can pry
Ranger 3 out of its deep-orbit trajectory. In the meantime, keep an eye on
our Buck release listing for all the info we currently have on this title, plus links to pre-order it at great discounts!
