At the end of January, we
reported to our readers that
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was coming to DVD later in 2004. That news was exciting enough, but the icing on the cake was the word that there would be participation on the DVD set from series stars Gil Gerard and Erin Gray.
Now, from sources close to the actors themselves comes word that Universal has passed on their participation after all. We're told by highly reliable sources that plans to have them do commentary tracks (and possibly other supplements) have fallen through.
No particular reason was given for the change. And no, this isn't an April Fool's joke...
we don't do that. It's just very bad news for fans who were looking forward to hearing from "Buck" and "Wilma" themselves. Personally, I was looking forward to Erin's commentary on the "Space Vampire" episode.
Of course, we fans don't have to give up on this, either. The DVD set hasn't finished being produced yet, and so there's still time to get Universal to change their mind. If you would like to POLITELY suggest to the studio that participation of the cast on this release is what you want, then take a moment and contact them. You can write a snail mail letter to their customer service group, which is administered by their marketing subcontractor:
Universal Studios Home Video
PO Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75222"
The written letter is usually the best way to show a studio that you are serious and care about this. But, for a quicker way to get the studio to know of your interest in this, you can call their Customer Service line at 972/293-5903. Or, you can e-mail them at
UniversalStudios&Dreamworks@LEEMarketing.com.
Stay tuned, of course...we'll be watching this very closely because we would like to see those extras make it to the set, too!
UPDATE: The address above has been corrected, using one provided by the studio which they state will "better serve the fans of
Buck Rogers." For more info,
