When Disney sent out the
press release for the
Sept. 18th DVD release of
Brothers & Sisters - The Complete 1st Season, one of the extras listed simply said "Bonus Un-Aired Episode". A lot of our readers wrote in asking about that (plus we've seen numerous posted at discussion forums around the 'net): what exactly does that mean? Is that the alternate version of the pilot? Or is it something else?
Our requests to both the studio and to our contacts in the retail industry, asking for more information about this bonus episode, resulted in getting a re-worded list of DVD extras that Disney/Buena Vista provided to retailers for posting at their online store listings:
- Bonus Episode: A Different View Of The Walkers
- Walker Family Tree: The Story Behind The Making Of The Compelling New Series
- Behind The Scenes With The Brothers -- Exclusive Set Tour With Stars Balthazar, Dave and Matthew
- The Family Business -- Meet The Olins, The Real Family Behind The Success Of This All-New, Popular TV Family
- Bloopers
- Deleted Scenes
- Audio Commentary
As you can see, the other items are essentially the same general wordings as used in the press release, but the Bonus Episode says more, calling it "A Different View of the Walkers". Our industry contacts are not in a position to categorically guarantee it, but all the indications to them from the studio is that this means it will be the alternate version of the pilot episode. Which makes sense, given the different casting of the original version of the pilot. We requested directly for the studio to get us a more certain answer that this is exactly what it is, but have not gotten that definitive response by our deadline. But we wanted to pass on to our readers what we do know so far, and we'll update you if we find out differently.
