While there IS a former football player involved, this news isn't about the 1984 series from Showtime; there's still no word about a DVD release of that one! However, in late 2009 a short-lived sitcom by the same name, Brothers, aired on the Fox Network for 13 episodes. It starred (and was produced by) former NFL star Michael Strahan, who was with the NY Giants when they won Super Bowl XLII in 2008. Also starring were Daryl "Chill" Mitchell (The John Larroquette Show, Veronica's Closet, Ed), Carl Weathers (Rocky films, Predator, Arrested Development) and CCH Pounder (ER, The Shield, Warehouse 13).
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed that the entire run of the series is coming to DVD on April 3rd, in a 2-disc manufactured-on-demand (MOD) release titled "Brothers - The Complete 1st Season" (a strange name, as it's the only season). Running time is 278 minutes, with episodes presented in anamorphic widescreen video and English stereo audio. Like all Sony MOD offerings, it will be available from multiple sources, including the Warner Archive and Amazon's CreateSpace. Pricing, package art and other details haven't been provided yet, but stay tuned!
