In 1991 CBS introduced us to the drama series
Brooklyn Bridge, starring Marion Ross (
Happy Days), Louis Zorich (
Mad About You), Amy Aquino (
ER, Felicity), Danny Gerard and more. The show was created by Gary David Goldberg (
Family Ties, Spin City) and the theme song was sung by none other than Art Garfunkel (of Simon & Garfunkel). The program ran for 2 seasons, and produced about 30 or so episodes.
Many people will remember Goldberg's production company, Ubu Productions, which was named after his dog ("Sit, Ubu, sit! Good dog!"), but how many of you keep up with his website at
www.GaryDavidGoldberg.com? One of our readers, "Derek", does, and sent us the heads-up over the weekend (thanks!) that Goldberg had updated his site with an important news flash:
"On March 16, 2010 CBS will release the award-winning series 'Brooklyn Bridge' on DVD"
In light of Goldberg's post, we've asked around a bit and been told by a non-studio source that the release being worked on is
Brooklyn Bridge - Season 1. Our informant wasn't aware of any planned date, and rightfully points out that the schedule at Goldberg's site is still six months away, leaving plenty of time for potential change (especially since this isn't an official announcement from the home video company yet).
Stay tuned, though, and we'll keep an eye out for formal word from the studio or any other word on the matter, and bring you updates just as soon as we can! It's great to know that this is coming at last, isn't it?
