This past September we
passed along word from show creator Gary David Goldberg (also known for
Family Ties and
Spin City) that was - and still is! -
posted at his website: "
On March 16, 2010 CBS will release the award-winning series 'Brooklyn Bridge' on DVD." With just over a month to go before that date, though, the folks at CBS DVD haven't announced the title yet, so it's obviously not going to make that date. What happened?
One of our readers, Chris Brown, has posed that very question to Goldberg via that website's "Ask Gary" form. Here is the question Chris sent, and the answer he got back in return (all copied and pasted from the e-mail that Chris forwarded to us):
Your finest creation is coming to DVD in March! What a dream come true. We haven't heard anything more, though. Will it be the entire series (hope so) and will it be available through retail? All the best, Chris Brown
Hi Chris, Thank you for the kind words. The release date has been pushed back to middle of May. I'm told. Not sure why, but presumably someone at CBS knows. It's expected that all 35 episodes will be released then. Thanks so much for your interest. Gary
So the answer is that the planned release has been delayed a bit, and that it's not "
Brooklyn Bridge - Season 1" after all (which is what we originally guessed at), but rather "
Brooklyn Bridge - The Complete Series." All of that being the case, then we ought to see an official studio announcement in the not-too-distant future (after all, CBS DVD distributor Paramount Home Entertainment is already announcing titles for late April and early May). Perhaps we'll even have something for you during the next few weeks! Stay tuned. Bear in mind, though, that it's all still unofficial, since the studio hasn't formally put this on our schedule (Mr. Goldberg's website front page has not even been changed to reflect this information, after all). We're hopeful, though! Our thanks to Chris for sharing this with us.
