About a month ago we
reported that some retailers had begun posting a release date of February 23rd for
Breaking Bad - The Complete 2nd Season on DVD. That date wasn't confirmed by the studio, though, because Sony had not yet officially announced the title. And that's still the case as of today: the release hasn't formally been put on the studio's schedule. However, we've got new information about the release date.
As we said last time, the February date had shown up at pre-order listings for various online retailers. Afterward, however, we found that many of those retailers either pulled the listing, pulled the date, or (like Amazon had shown all along) changed the date to basically say it hadn't been revealed yet. On the other hand, a couple of online sellers (the biggest one being DeepDiscount.com) continue to say "February 23rd." This weekend, however, things changed.
VideoETA, a site produced by major home video distributor Ingram Entertainment, added listings saying that
Breaking Bad - The Complete 2nd Season would be coming out on
March 9th, in both a 4-disc DVD version ($39.95 SRP) and - on the same date - a 3-disc high-def Blu-ray version ($49.95 SRP), at 615 minutes each. This info was backed up by a new
Amazon pre-order listing for the Blu-ray Disc version, confirming the March 9th date and the BD pricing (you can lock in your copy at a very nice discount, though, which right now makes it almost as inexpensive as
Amazon's DVD listing, after discount).
No further details are available yet, nor package art, but we'll have that just as soon as they are officially provided by the studio, so stay tuned!
