Sony hasn't announced this release yet, but DVDEmpire has added
a pre-order listing for
Breaking Bad - The Complete 1st Season on DVD. This is the new AMC series starring Bryan Cranston (
Malcolm in the Middle), and created by Vince Gilligan (
The X-Files). The retailer lists it as a 2-disc set running 346 minutes, featuring episodes presented in anamorphic widescreen video, with English - Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and French subtitles. Cost is $29.96 SRP, but you can pre-order it right away for $22.19, after their discount. The release date given is
January 20, 2009. With that long of a lead time, we expect it to be a bit down the road before the studio officially announces this, and provides box art and other details. We'll update you as soon as we can, though, so stay tuned!
UPDATE (8/2): Amazon.com has now put this title
up for pre-order as well. They show the same release date and list price, and are currently discounting it to $20.99 (discounts prices of retailers are subject to change without notice).
