In
this news post back on July 21st, we reported that a new press release from Disney/Buena Vista had omitted previously-announced
Boy Meets World DVD extras. So we checked with Disney sources, and then passed on assurances to our readers that the bonus material in question would still be included in the DVD set.
This turns out to be mistaken, we've found out from reviewers who have already received the same box that will be sold at retail in just two weeks. Among them are Pavan Badal, a regular TVShowsOnDVD contributor who
reviewed the set for SitcomsOnline.com, one of the many websites he works with. Stephen Strong of ClassicTVHits.com reported this to us as well.
Pavan's review informs us that the extras that WILL be on this release are now limited to the following:
- Bonus Episode from Season 4: "Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow"
- Audio Commentary: "Cory's Alternative Friends" (Disc 1) with Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs.
- Audio Commentary: "Class Pre-Union" (Disc 2) with Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel and creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs.
- Audio Commentary: "Boy Meets Girl" (Disc 3) with Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs and Matthew Lawrence (5th Season's "Jack Hunter").
- Audio Commentary: Season 4 Bonus Episode "Hair Today, Goon Tomorrow" (Disc 3) with Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs and Matthew Lawrence (5th Season's "Jack Hunter").
Pavan is mystified, as are we, as to why a 5th-season actor is doing commentary tracks on episodes from the 1st and 4th season. Still, Pavan says it's a lot of fun...and, as we
mentioned yesterday with
The Munsters, the main thing is that the episodes themselves are all there. Still, we know that
Boy Meets World is a highly-anticipated release for TVShowsOnDVD readers, and we regret that we mis-informed you a few weeks ago. Our understanding is that the Disney/Buena Vista information came from a "Product Info" listing provided to retailers, which had not yet been updated with the new (shorter) list of extras at the time we checked in. Hopefully some of this material can surface for future season set releases.
