Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He's just gone through a painful break-up, think in part to his drinking, can't write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies, moonlighting as a private detective because he wants to be a hero and a man of action.
This past September, HBO launched a new series starring Jason Schwartzman (
Funny People), Ted Danson (
Cheers, Damages), and Zach Galifianakis (
The Hangover). While the studio hasn't officially announced it for DVD release yet, a pair of pre-order listings at Amazon.com show that the first season of
Bored to Death is coming to both
DVD and high-def
Blu-ray Disc formats.
This is an advance order situation, so there is no release date provided yet in these entries; they simply say "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." But we'll probably see it before the show returns with new episodes in the summer, don't you think? No content info, specs, or package art is provided yet either (just some temp art taken from the campaign used to advertise the show for broadcast). Pricing is given, however: $39.98 SRP for the standard DVD, and $49.99 SRP for the Blu-ray Disc edition (but you can lock in your copies at a discount if you order now). Our thanks to our reader, "Iggy", for the heads-up about those listings. Stay tuned and we'll fill you in as further developments occur!
