This past Friday evening, we received an e-mail from one of our readers, Maura, and we appreciate the heads-up from her about this. Here's what she told us:
The latest newsletter from The International Petula Clark Society (her fan club) contains this item, which I haven't seen anywhere else and isn't on the MPI site. Can you check if it's true? It would be great to see this show again!
The Bobby Darin Show is heading for DVD. Word comes that this long-anticipated released by MPI in the U.S. will appear in April or May. Covering Darin's 1973 NBC-TV series of 13 shows, these DVDs offer Petula as a guest singing "All I Have to Do Is Dream" with Bobby, as well as a solo of "My Guy" and musical comedy material with Bobby and comedian Flip Wilson. Other guests are Dusty Springfield, Helen Reddy, Nancy Sinatra, Connie Steve, Freda Payne and Bread. More details in our next issue.
We did indeed check in with our contact at MPI, and we found out that DVDs of
The Bobby Darin Show are truly in-the-works. We were advised that a specific release date isn't set so far, but that this item is actually expected by summertime. Bonus material will be included, as well. Our thanks to the studio for the info, and to Maura for sending us the info. Stay tuned for updates, as further developments occur!
