Back on October 1st we
reported that Shout! Factory is preparing a
January 27th DVD release of
Blossom - Seasons 1 & 2. At the time we told you that Shout! was "
in the process of filming DVD bonus material to go with this release," but we didn't have details about those extras at the time. Now we do!
The 6-DVD set will contain all 37 regular weekly episodes from the first two seasons (the first season's 13 episodes are on the first two discs, with the third disc beginning the second season run). Also included on the first disc is the original "Pilot," which was aired six months before the regular series began, and which some fans had feared might not be included on this set. No worries, it's included...complete with appearances by Richard Masur (
One Day at a Time), Barrie Youngfellow (
It's a Living), Justin Whalin (
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Giovanni Ribisi (
Friends, My Name is Earl).
There will also be "
all-new interviews and commentaries with Mayim Bialik, Jenna von Oÿ, Joey Lawrence and Ted Wass," according to info provided by Shout! Factory. Much of this will be found on the 6th disc, which is said to contain
Outtakes as well as 3 Featurettes: "A Very Special Show," "A Very Special Friendship" and "A Very Special Style." Any fans who have watched the show since its original '90s run on NBC will recognize these as a tongue-in-cheek poke at the way the network routinely promoted the series with lead-ins like, "Tonight, on a very special
Blossom..." We have to commend the folks at Shout! for daring to go there. This will definitely be a fun release, not to be missed!
CORRECTION (11/12): Shout! Factory has informed us that the listing of "Outtakes" as part of this release was an error; there will not be any included with this
Blossom DVD release. They are updating their listing which contained the misinformation. Any confusion is regretted.
