The 1987 film The Big Easy, starring Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin, became a 1996 television series on the USA Network, which lasted 2 seasons and approximately 34-36 episodes (depending on which resource's count you use). The show was produced by Daniel Petrie Jr., who not only wrote the screenplay for the original film, but also known for writing the original Beverly Hills Cop movie as well. The show starred Tony Crane (in the Dennis Quaid role as "Detective Remy McSwain") and Susan Walters (in Ellen Barkin's role as "Asst. District Attorney Anne Osborne"), and Barry Corbin (Wargames, Northern Exposure, One Tree Hill) had a recurring role as "Sheriff C.D. LeBlanc."
Retailers have gotten the word that MPI Home Video is preparing a June 24th release of The Big Easy - Season 1 on DVD. There will be 21 episodes running 960 minutes, and the cost will be $49.98 SRP.
