In September 2008, Warner Home Video released
The Big Bang Theory - The Complete 1st Season on DVD format only, and followed up a year later with a DVD-only release of
The Complete 2nd Season. When they studio came out with home videos of the show's
Complete 3rd Season in September 2010, however, they put it out on both DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. The 4th season also got a Blu-ray version a year after that, which was this past September. And even Warner's
early plans for
The Complete 5th Season show a Blu-ray release for the (as-yet-officially-unannounced) forthcoming home video title.
Fans have been wondering when, or if, Warner home Video would go back and release high-def versions of the show's hilarious first two seasons. You'll be pleased to know that plans ARE now in motion to do exactly that! Amazon has now begun taking pre-orders for Blu-ray Disc sets of both
The Big Bang Theory - The Complete 1st Season AND
The Big Bang Theory - The Complete 2nd Season sets! These listings are in advance of the official studio announcement for these items, though, so instead of a street date Amazon only says "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." We spoke to the studio, however, and they assured us these will be "
coming in the first half of the year." Nice!
Pricing is available at Amazon's listings, currently showing $34.99 SRP for the shorter first season on BD, and $54.97 SRP for the longer second season in a Blu-ray version (you can, of course, guarantee your copies right away at a discounted price, if you order them using the above links). There are no other details available so far at Amazon's entries, but there IS cover art there already, shown below (as you see, it's the same key art as the DVD versions of these titles, just with the Blu-ray banner added to the top).
