A week-and-a-half ago we
spoke about the
Bewitched - The Complete 2nd Season DVD release, mainly because a lot of other websites had already spilled the beans ahead of Sony's official announce date. To sum up what we told you at the time: this streets on
October 25th, that it would be sold separately in the original (and preferable) black-and-white version, and also available in a colorized version. We were unsure of the exact list price and disc count, but now we can confirm that this is a 5-DVD set for $39.95 SRP. We also now know that the running time is 967 minutes. No other new information is available yet on this release, nor do we have cover art. Stay tuned, and we'll update you once Sony provides more to us.
Not much on that subject, but we're pleased to let you know about something that some fans of the show might find nifty. Unless you've been holed up in a cave, you probably know that a new film came out this past Summer based on
Bewitched, starring Nicole Kidman, Will Ferrell, Shirley MacClaine, and Michael Caine. The film is headed to DVD on the same day, which is no surprise thanks to tie-in marketing. What Sony has mentioned this morning, though, is this: while most copies of the DVD for the 2005 film will be the standard affair ("
Bewitched - Special Edition), there will also be a special version they label as "
Bewitched (Special Edition)/Bewitched TV Sampler 2-Pack Back to Back". The list price for this is the same as for the
Bewitched - Special Edition ($28.96), but it seems that there will be a bonus disc with a "Bewitched TV Sampler" on it which makes this a "2-Pack". While no other details about that were available from Sony's initial announcement, the wording does seem to indicate that the disc will have some episodes of the TV show on it. If we find out what the exact content is, we'll let you know.
The thing to bear in mind about this special 2-Pack of the new film is that it might not end up being available everywhere. It could be that this is meant to be a special bonus item only available at a particular chain, such as Wal-Mart or Best Buy. If we find out anything along those lines, we'll be sure to tell you that, too. It's not a necessary item for the fan collecting season sets, but for the extreme fan it might be nice to have this DVD in your
Bewitched collection. Stay tuned!
