Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that Beverly Hills, 90210 - The 9th Season, the next-to-last season of the original show, is coming to DVD on February 2nd. This 1146-minute set, featuring 26 episodes, will be presented in full screen video, English Stereo Surround, and with subtitles in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Cost and package art have not been made available yet, but stay tuned.
This penultimate season saw the departure of original cast member Jason Priestley ("Brandon"), who would only return briefly - "via videotape" - at the end of the show's run. Also leaving the cast was Tiffani-Amber Thiessen ("Valerie"), who did return (in person) for the show's ultimate finale. Taking their places in the regular cast were Vanessa Marcil (Las Vegas) as "Gina" and a returning Luke Perry ("Dylan"), who was now billed as a "Special Guest Star."
Guest stars this season included Laura Leighton (Melrose Place), musician Tom Sullivan, Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Reaper), Pat Crowley (Please Don't Eat the Daisies), Michelle Phillips (Knots Landing), Stephanie Beacham (The Colbys, SeaQuest DSV), Tricia O'Neil (Valley of the Dolls), Brande Roderick (Baywatch), musician Brian Setzer, Nancy O'Dell (Access Hollywood), Bernie Kopell (Love Boat, Get Smart), Karen Austin (Night Court), Kathleen Lloyd (Magnum P.I., Equal Justice), China Shavers (Boston Public), Shadoe Stevens (Dave's World), Shiri Appleby (Roswell, ER), Eric Pierpoint (Alien Nation) and Bonnie Somerville (NYPD Blue, Cashemere Mafia).
