This past February we
reported that Universal Studios Home Entertainment had decided to release
Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.0 very late this year, containing the episodes which have already aired (including that jaw-dropping cliffhanger of a half-season ender!). And then to expect the remaining 11 episodes to eventually be released on a "
Season 4.5" set, sometime in 2009. Of course, those final episodes won't even air until 2009: the last episodes to wrap up the series are planned for broadcast during the "first quarter" of the new year.
So it comes as no surprise, then, that Universal is planning a VERY-late-2008 release for
Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.0 on DVD. We've gotten word from industry sources, who spoke on condition of remaining anonymous, that the studio is planning on making this available
December 30th, just in front of New Year's Day shopping (and right in the middle of busy after-Christmas sales traffic, when people have gift cards and will know what they want to use them for).
Of course, that's a long way off, and so it's all still subject to change. But right now the word is pretty solid, from a long-time source. However, there's no word yet on whether there will also be a high-def release of this set at the same time (we're not counting on it, frankly).
