We hope everyone enjoyed this past Friday's series finale of the re-imagined
Battlestar Galactica. I've heard a number of different opinions, but I've got to say I personally enjoyed it...a lot. Still have questions? Creator/Producer/Writer Ron Moore
tries to answer them at our big-sister site, TVGuide.com (beware of spoilers, if you haven't seen the finale yet!). Kudos to everyone at the show for a really great (if not completely perfect) finish to the show.
A bit over a month ago, we
passed along a report from The Digital Bits and the Galactica Sitrep Blog, talking about release schedules for
Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.5 on DVD, and
Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series on high-def Blu-ray Disc. Today our good friend Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits
has posted an update about what was previously said.
The BD release of
The Complete Series, previously reported by both The Bits and Galactica Sitrep, is still rumored for
July 28th according to Bill. Today's report says that the
Season 4.5 DVDs, previously said to possibly be coming in April (on the same day as
the Caprica DVD), is now likely to come out in July with
The Complete Series instead. Bill, who attended an official screening of the finale (see his report at The Bits for all the juicy details!), also found out that there will be several "extended" episodes on home video (DVD and Blu-ray both) among the final installments of the show. Look for additional footage on "A Disquiet Follows My Soul," "Islanded in a Stream of Stars" and "Daybreak"...Bill's got some additional details over there at The Bits.
Please keep in mind that all of this is early info, and nothing official - about the DVDs or the Blu-ray Discs - has been officially announced by Universal Studios. Stay tuned, of course, and we'll fill you in on the official details, once the studio formally announces them!
