Back on the 4th of July we brought you
a close-up look at the tin packaging for HBO's hi-def Blu-ray Disc release of
Band of Brothers. We've known, since shortly before that time, that this release is planned to begin shipping later this year, in the Fall. Now HBO and distributor Warner Home Video have just sent over word that the exact release date will be
November 11th.
The 6-disc set will include every episode of the award-winning mini-series, running 705 minutes, presented in remastered video at high definition 1080p resolution, and with DTS audio. Bonus material includes the Interactive Field Guide, titled "In the Field with the Men of Easy Company," which features timelines, maps, soldier profiles "and much more". Plus there's brand-new bonus material such as the Picture-In-Picture Video Commentary with the surviving members of Easy Company. Cost for this will be $99.98 SRP. Here's the studio description, followed by a look at the package once more:
Based on the bestseller by Stephen E. Ambrose, the epic 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear. They were an elite rifle company parachuting into France early on D-Day morning, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and capturing Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden. They were also a unit that suffered 150 percent casualties, and whose lives became legend.
