Back in 2005, Sony
announced the release of
Astro Boy - The Complete Series, a 5-disc set with the entire run of the 2003 Kids' WB/Cartoon Network-aired series which was based on Osamu Tezuka's characters, first seen on television in the classic 1963 cartoon program. Now, to tie in with the new CGI theatrical film - coming out in October of this year (voice cast includes Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland, Eugene Levy, Nathan Lane, and Freddie Highmore) - Sony is going back and releasing each of the 5 discs in this set, as separate titles which will cost $14.94 SRP per DVD:
All five titles are available on
August 18th, running 202 minutes long for 10 episodes per item. Video on these are full screen, with audio in stereo for English, Spanish and Portuguese. Plus English subtitles, and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. The
Volume 5 release has a "Remaking of Astro Boy" featurette.
