It's been more than a month since we
posted a story about
The Archie Show - The Complete Series, a release coming out in just a few weeks, on
July 31st! We said at the time that we expected Genius Products to send us a press release, but we actually never got it from them. Nor did we find it on the wire services, or even at their web site. This is a surprisingly low-key press release!
But our good friend Andy Mangels has posted all the details
at his website, and since he's the producer of the special features on this release, he's got the goods on it. The Riverdale kids have never looked better; these DVDs welcome them into the new millennium with a complete digital restoration! Chock full of Special Features, the DVD set includes the not-to-be-missed "Come On Let's Go With The Archie Show!" an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary interview with Lou Scheimer, the executive producer of The Archie Show. The DVD collection also includes a media gallery filled with original model sheets and color background artwork, as well as a jukebox feature where fans can listen to every song from all 17 episodes, including "Bang-Shang-A-Lang", the hit first single from the popular band The Archies that was created for the series. And you can laugh along with a collectible twelve-page booklet which includes an episode guide and trivia, plus a reprint of a story from the very first "Everything's Archie" comic book, in which the gang visit Filmation's studio to find out how their cartoon is created.
Producing the special features, documentaries and most of the extra content is entertainment writer Andy Mangels, a best-selling novelist, and author of Animation on DVD—The Ultimate Guide.
Synopsis
