Arlington, Va. - PBS Distribution has announced it is releasing "THE BEST OF ANTIQUES ROADSHOW" on DVD. "ANTIQUES ROADSHOW" fans will watch as owners recount tales of family heirlooms, yard sale bargains and long-neglected items salvaged from attics and basements in three great episodes. This program will be available on DVD October 4, 2011 with a suggested retail price of $19.99. The disc has a running time of 180 minutes.
Information about the episodes included on this DVD is below:
- Simply the Best - showcases the objects deemed the finest examples of their kind ever seen on "ANTIQUES ROADSHOW." Some of the items showcased include a superlative pair of circa 1795, Massachusetts-made Federal side chairs, valued at $30,000 to $50,000; a staggeringly rare 19th-century Rhode Island rifle and powderhorn, valued at $100,000 to $120,000; and the "holy grail" of American women's suffrage movement posters valued at $10,000 to $15,000.
- Trash to Treasure - unwraps more than 20 incredible tales of treasures rescued from rubbish heaps, roadsides, dumpsters and demolition sites. Items highlighted include an autographed script of the Academy Award-winning 1935 John Ford movie "The Informer," valued at $4,000 to $5,000; a rare circa 1885 Zuni pot, valued at $15,000 to $25,000; and precious relics from Louis Comfort Tiffany's Laurelton Hall mansion, valued at $80,000 to $100,000.
- Politically Collect - celebrates two great American traditions - electing and collecting - and commemorates political battles long past. Highlights include an extensive collection of campaign buttons; a court affidavit submitted by Jimmy Carter to the state of Maine on the eve of the 1976 Presidential election, appealing its decision to list him on the ballot as James Earl Carter; and signed photos of Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, valued at $75,000.
