Anne with an E (AKA Anne) - DVDs for 'Season 1,' Based on 'Anne of Green Gables'

Coming to Canada via eOne in the second half of November

Posted by David Lambert
ANNE is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and numerous challenges, fights for love and acceptance and for her place in the world. The series centers on a young orphaned girl in the late 1890's, who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an elderly spinster and her aging brother.

Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform their lives and eventually the small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. Based on "Anne of Green Gables." Starring: Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson.
Called "Anne with an E" in the USA, where it's seen on Netflix, in its native Canada it's aired on the CBC network under the even-simpler name of "Anne." The 7-episode first season has been successful enough that they have renewed the show for a second season, this time with 10 episodes.

Now we've learned that Anne - Season 1 is getting a release in Canada on November 21st. It's coming from Entertainment One (eOne), and is priced at CA$29.98 SRP. You can pre-order it from There's no finalized cover art yet, but stay tuned.

There's also no word so far on a U.S.A. release of the first season, but we're keeping an eye out for that. In the meantime, if you can't wait, log into Amazon's Canadian branch (at the link above) using your username and password, and just order will work on your standard USA-bought DVD player just fine (it's all Region 1). Just allow extra time for the shipment to pass through customs, all right?
