Back in August 2004, we
posted news that Buena Vista was considering a new release, or series of releases, of
America's Funniest Home Videos to DVD. By the end of January 2005, though, it was clear that instead of releasing this themselves, BV had licensed the property to The Shout! Factory, who
polled customers about the nature and content of what releases would be most preferable to find on store shelves.
Apparently Shout! has made a decision, and is working with distributor Sony Music to get something to market on
July 12th. Retailer DVDPlanet.com is
listing something they refer to as
America's Funniest Home Videos #1 for release on that date. The pre-order information shows only that title and date, saying it is a 4-DVD box set that lists for $39.95 (currently DVDPlanet is selling advance orders for $27.97, though).
Neither Shout! nor Sony Music has distributed details to press yet about this, but stay tuned and we'll get the info and bring it to you just as soon as possible.
