America's Funniest Home Videos - AFHV being considered for release?

Last week, the folks at the Shout! Factory sent around an interesting online survey to selected customers on their mailing list who had chosen to receive such things. The survey has been concluded, so there's no point in passing on the link to our readers...just info about the subject!

News Graphic

As you can see from the screen capture, the topic was America's Funniest Home Videos, and whether or not the person being surveyed would be interested in buying it on DVD. If the respondent wasn't interested, then the survey noted that result and pretty much ended; there was no point in continuing...Shout! would get a responses indicating what percentage of people surveyed aren't going to purchase such a release.

For those who indicated that they *were* interested in an AFHV release, the survey then went forward asking what kind of configuration would be most enticing to that consumer: Single disc set? Three disc set? Four disc set? What price points for those would be desirable? What should the content be, 1-hour episodes or some of the "best-of" specials ("Salute to Boneheads," "Matrimony Mania," "Guide To Parenting")? If the 1-hour episodes, which host would be prefered, Bob Saget or Tom Bergeron?

We don't know, of course, if this means that DVDs of the show are definitely coming out. It's entirely possible that the majority of the people surveyed said they wouldn't buy it, and if that happened then we presume Shout! will act accordingly and do nothing with the property. Or, it could be that Shout! is already committed to bringing this out, and just wanted some help from consumers deciding on which route to take with the release configuration.

Either way, we'll keep an eye on it. If any further word of a DVD release for America's Funniest Home Videos comes along, you can be sure we'll pass it on to you. Stay tuned!
