Get ready to hear some
Amazing Stories, because Universal Home Video is set to release the first season of the show on
November 2nd. This information came to us from a fresh Universal press release which announced many new titles that are in the works. The series premiered in September, 1985, and the first season consisted of 24 half-hour episodes.
Here's what the press release had to say:
AMAZING STORIES, the Emmy(R)-Award winning anthology series created and produced by Steven Spielberg featuring an incredible roster of guest appearances including Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Kevin Costner, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Drew Barrymore and many more.
I'm excited about this news because I tried to record episodes of the series off Movie Central in Canada a few years ago. Due to a VCR malfunction (or someone forgetting to set it), I missed an episode. As any TV-on-DVD collector knows, of you can't have the whole thing, why bother? I gave up recording the episodes, and it's bothered me ever since.
While the Universal press release mentions a handful of guest appearances, there are many, many more. I remember being shocked to see a
very young Seth Green in "The Sitter"; just his second TV appearance. Also look for Amy Irving (
Alias), Sid Caesar (
Your Show of Shows), Loni Anderson (
WKRP in Cincinnati), Dom DeLuise (
Candid Camera), Michael DeLuise (
NYPD Blue,
21 Jump Street), Beau Bridges (
The Agency), Harvey Keitel (
Reservoir Dogs), James Cromwell (
Six Feet Under), Joe Pantoliano (
The Sopranos,
The Handler), Mark Hamill (
Star Wars), Forest Whitaker (

Please Note:
While this was announced as a short piece in a larger press release the title was never formally announced by Universal. We're told the release
has not been cancelled, but has been pushed back to 2005.
