A bit over a month ago we posted
an extended look at the various DVDs released over the years from Paramount Home Entertainment, containing cartoons from the '80s Saturday morning TV series
Alvin And The Chipmunks (which went under various names including "
The Chipmunks" and "
The Chipmunks Go To The Movies").
We capped off that story by letting you know that Paramount is planning a new DVD release on
April 1st, containing three episodes from near the end of the show's run: "Bigger!," "Back to Alvin's Future" and "Funny, We Shrunk The Adults." At the time of our initial report, the disc was said to be $14.99 SRP and was to be called
Alvin And The Chipmunks - The Chipmunk Comedies!.
Since then Paramount has informed us that the correct list price for this release is $16.99 SRP, and they have changed the title as well. The release is now called
Alvin and the Chipmunks Go to the Movies - Funny, We Shrunk The Adults. Yesterday the package art was revealed, and you can see it below.
Ironically, the lead cartoon "Funny, We Shrunk The Adults" has already been seen in the May 2007 DVD release called
Alvin And The Chipmunks - The Chipmunks Go To The Movies, a confusingly similar title (which ended up listing for $14.99)...but which goes off the market in April, just a few weeks after the new disc is released. At that time the other two cartoons on that disc, "Star Wreck: The Absolutely Final Frontier" and "Batmunk," will no longer be available on DVD.
Get it while you can!
Here is the package art for the upcoming release,
Alvin and the Chipmunks Go to the Movies - Funny, We Shrunk The Adults:
