According to our
report back in April, yesterday should have seen Fox's individual season-set DVD release of
Ally McBeal - The Complete 3rd Season, which had been verified by Amazon's pre-order listing. However, that was removed from the schedule, as we mentioned in our
follow-up report last week. In that write-up, we let you know that Amazon was still taking pre-orders for the
3rd Season, as well as pre-orders for
Ally McBeal - The Complete 4th Season and
Ally McBeal - The Complete 5th Season too! None of these Amazon entries currently show a release day, though: where the street date ought to be they all say "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives."
Today, however, Fox Home Entertainment informed retailers that the 3rd, 4th and 5th season sets of
Ally McBeal will be available individually starting on
October 5th. Yes, that's the same street date for all three of these season sets, sold separately. These cost $39.98 SRP each, and finish off the run of the classic David E. Kelley-produced legal dramedy starring Calista Flockhart, Jane Krakowski, Peter MacNicol, Greg Germann, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Portia de Rossi, Lucy Liu and more. And the timing is especially good where the fourth season is concerned, since that year featured Robert Downey Jr. as "Larry Paul," and these releases come out just a week after Downey's
Iron Man 2 hits home video.
Of course,
Ally McBeal - The Complete Series has been on DVD since last October, with all five seasons, so there's no need to wait to own the show's entire run. But if you've been collecting these separately, you'll be glad to know that the remaining three season sets will be available in time for holiday gift-giving!
