Alcatraz - 'The Complete Series' Announced for DVD, Blu-ray: Street Date, Extras, Packaging

The complete 13-episode run comes to standard and high-def discs in October

Posted by David Lambert
In 1963, all prisoners were transferred from Alcatraz Island Federal Penitentiary. Or so we were told. Now America's worst criminals - known as the 63s - are returning to the streets of San Francisco to repeat their grisly crimes. It's up to top-notch Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) and Alcatraz expert Diego "Doc" Soto (Jorge Garcia) to work with FBI Agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill) and Dr. Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra) to learn why the 63s are back and to uncover a much larger, more sinister threat. Get locked into The Complete Series of this suspenseful, mysterious and action-packed drama from executive producer J.J. Abrams (Fringe, Lost).
The show had a short run (just 13 episodes) on the Fox Network, but fans will nevertheless be thrilled to know that Warner Home Video has today announced that Alcatraz - The Complete Series is coming to DVD (3 discs) and high-def Blu-ray (2 discs) on October 16th. Both versions come with extras in the form of Deleted Scenes, a Gag Reel, and the "Alcatraz: Island of Intrigue" Featurette ("See what attracted the creators to this island and what stories they hoped to tell. The cast will discuss what they did to prepare for these roles and share their memories of visiting and working on Alcatraz. Spend some time with the art department to learn how they endeavored to recreate the mood, tone, and mystery of this iconic landmark."). Additionally, in the USA, the Blu-ray Disc version will come with digital UltraViolet versions of each episodes (must be redeemed within two years of street date). Here's the package art for each version, and a link to Amazon listings (however, they aren't accepting pre-orders quite yet, at least as of this writing):
