Air America - Movie's Spin-Off Series w/Lorenzo Lamas Comes To 6-DVD Set

In 1990 a Mel Gibson/Robert Downey Jr. film named Air America hit the big screens, with an advertising tag line of "The Few. The Proud. The Insane". It told the story of an undercover CIA operation with a public front as a private airline based out of Laos in the Vietnam War era, and the exploits of the pilots who flew those missions. In 1998, the studio spun off the film into a syndicated television series that starred Lorenzo Lamas, who had finished up his Renegade role the previous year. The hour-long show lasted a single season, with 26 episodes produced but only 22 of them aired in the USA. Each episode featured various missions where, in the words of the studio, the team "flies everything from passengers and cargo to attack helicopters on covert missions – missions that are far from the ordinary!"

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they are releasing Air America - The Complete Series as a 6-DVD set (with all 26 episodes, including the 4 unaired ones) on June 6th. This 1162-minute set costs $49.95 SRP, but you can already pre-order from Amazon.com for $34.99. Video is full screen, audio is English Stereo, and the are both French subtitles and close captioning for the hearing impaired. There will be no extras other than previews of other Sony DVD releases.

Note that this is not the first DVD release of Air America. In June 2003, MTI released a disc with 2 episodes, and as we noted that DVD contained unaired episodes edited together. But on Sony's new release you'll see the entire series run, and as the separate episodes they were meant to be. Here's the front and rear cover art for the upcoming release:
