Back in September we posted
the press release for First National Pictures' upcoming releases of
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. At the time, the information was only that DLT Entertainment (owners of the
Ruxpin cartoon and perhaps best known for
Three's Company) had licensed the DVD rights to FNP and that all 65 episodes of the show were planned for release in time to tie in with the 20-year anniversary of the show and the release of the original toy (an upgraded modern version of the toy is also being done).
Although release dates weren't available back then, we have it now for the first two volumes! Giant online retailer Amazon.com has put up pre-order listing for
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin - Vol. 1: The Journey Begins and
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin - Vol. 2: The Journey Continues. The release date for both of these is
February 21st! Amazon shows an SRP of $14.98 for both titles, but will discount them to just $9.99 if you order now.
What does the future hold for DVDs in this series? Well, First National is already planning on the next pair of releases!
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin - Vol. 3: The Fun Road Ahead and
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin - Vol. 4: Friends Helping Friends are both in the works, and will continue the $14.98 SRP pricing. No release date has been made available just yet, though. We expect 5 episodes of
Teddy Ruxpin on each of these 4 releases, as they all have 120 minutes' running time. As you can see below, we have the cover art for the first volume. The other four volumes are tentatively planning to use the same general graphic layout, but with different colors (Vol. 2: green, Vol. 3: orange, Vol. 4: purple). None of the artwork is for-certain final yet, though, so stay tuned and we'll let you know if it changes!
