They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, and now for the first time, they¹re on DVD! The Addams Family, America's first family of ghastly giddiness, are here in all of their ghoulish glory in the original TV series based on the delightfully demented imagination of Charles Addams. Tarantulas, torture racks, and tombstones have never been so much fun! Join Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Cousin Itt, and the rest of the gang for a fiendishly funny and altogether kooky experience. It's time to pay a call on The Addams Family!
Well, we assumed, like everyone else, that MGM/Fox would release this in season sets, but they've decided to go the volume route. The first volume will have 22 episodes (the first season was 34 episodes), which means the entire series should be released in 3 volumes. The set will feature full frame (1.33:1) video, and mono audio in English, French and Spanish.
Here are the contents of the set:
Disc 1 side A:
- The Addams Family Goes to School
- Morticia and the Psychiatrist
- Fester's Punctuated Romance
- Gomez the Politician
Disc 1 side B:
- The Addams Family Tree
- Morticia Joins the Ladies League
- Halloween with the Addams Family

The set will cost $29.98 US ($37.98 CAN) when it's released on
October 24. Releasing the series in volumes allowed them to keep the price of the set down to a reasonable price.
There are some snappy extras on the set as well:
- Audio commentary for "The Addams Family Goes to School" by director Arthur Hiller
- "You Rang, Mr. Addams" featurette
- "Snap, Snap" featurette
- Theme Song Karaoke

Running time is 572 minutes. Amazon doesn't have it listed yet, but you can
pre-order it from DVDEmpire right away for $20.99. Don Rickles, the legendary comedian who appeared 30 times on Johnny Carson's
Tonight Show, starred in TV's
C.P.O. Sharkey, and is the voice of Mr. Potato Head" in Pixar's
Toy Story films, appears in the seventh episode, "Halloween with the Addams Family", as one of two wanted criminals who end up visiting Gomez and the gang while fleeing the police. We'll post a bigger version of the artwork as soon as it's available.
