AddamsFamily.com, "The Unofficial Addams Family Web Site", that says that DVDs are finally on the way, now that a critical legal issue has been resolved. Here is an exact quote from the website:
Addams Family Copyrights: Fight is over!
As of April 3rd The Tee and Charles Addams Foundation gained complete control of The Addams Family intellectual property.
What does this mean? This means that there will be new releases of books, calendars, greeting cards, note cards, T-shirts and...DVD!
The Addams Family TV series will be on DVD.
These will be the only officially licensed set of DVDs.
Our reader, Bruce, first wrote in to us with that last Tuesday. Before posting, our first instinct was to write off to
the Tee and Charles Addams Foundation and try to get more info and details. Their response was that they are not ready to say more about this just yet, and when they are it is very likely that they will pass the news first to
AddamsFamily.com. Which we can understand, since that site is obviously very supportive of their efforts.
The only other comment we were given was that "They may be out by October - we shall see..." We, of course, are happy to also help in any way that we can, and have let them know that. This is very happy news for me personally, as this is one of the shows I've wanted most on DVD since before TVShowsOnDVD was first formed (about four and a half years ago).
