Yesterday we
broke the news about an upcoming "complete series" release of the classic '50s program,
The Abbott and Costello Show. Today we've been in touch with the studio, E1 Entertainment, and they've been nice enough to fill us in with exclusive details about this upcoming title!
First of all, the title is actually and officially
The Abbott and Costello Show - Collector's Edition. Have no fear, though, that it's missing anything: the front cover art, seen below, proudly proclaims that this contains "
the complete series, restored and re-mastered". Second of all, the date. We passed along a release date of March 9th. E1 officials inform us that the correct street date for this title is actually
March 23rd; please mark your calendars accordingly!
The cost is confirmed to be $69.98 SRP (so we were correct with our ballpark number in yesterday's report). This will be a 9-DVD set, which E1 plans to package with a substantial booklet that includes liner notes and episode synopses. There will be additional bonus material as well, but the studio hasn't finalized that content yet so they aren't able to pass it along to us at this time. However, our contact offered the opinion that "
this will be an extremely nice set." Sounds like it to us, too! Our thanks to everybody at E1 for the scoop on this, including the first look at the artwork below. Stay tuned for updates, including that bonus material, just as soon as it's available!
