The other day
we mentioned the extras for "Alf - Season 1," and some of our readers had questions about it.
The listing we posted showed "DVD Extras: Pilot episode, Never-before-seen gag reel." Some of you responded, " 'Pilot episode', big deal...that's not an extra...it's the first episode of the show!"
The confusion is understandable, because the first season had 26 episodes, and the first one was "A.L.F.," where our favorite alien life form first crash-lands his spaceship into the Tanners' house. There can't be anything before that, right?
Wrong! We'll let Pavan Badal, who first brought us the word about the extras, to explain this in his own words:
I have a clarification on what the "Pilot Episode" part meant on the ALF extras section of the Lions Gate product release. It is an "unaired" pilot of ALF! The aired pilot will, of course, also be on the set. Also, the gag reel is roughly 5 minutes or so in length.
The funny thing is, of course that we've never heard of an unaired pilot for
ALF, and before this neither had Pavan (who reports for a number of websites, including SitcomsOnline and ToonZone.net, plus runs his own sites such as Jack's Bistro). So the confusion among our readers is natural...it looks like the people behind this release have truly dug up a must-have extra. Kudos to Lions Gate for making this available...we're looking forward to it!
