A couple of weeks ago we posted the first official verification that 24 - Season 3 would arrive in December of this year, just prior to the January debut of the 4th Season on the Fox Network. Now a reader, Matt Hurt, has purchased Fox box set of The Simpsons - The Complete 4th Season, and - althought that's only been out a month - the advertisement insert that's included has already been switched to a newer one. One that includes new info about 24 - Season 3! The ad, Matt tells us, looks very similar in style to the Fox "TV-DVD" ad inserts that they've been including in their product for quite some time. But the one he found has more recent releases in it, plus the first look at this cover art for the 3rd "day" of 24: Now, don't write to us and try to tell us that's a lousy, low-res picture. It looks just like it's supposed to! Matt scanned that and sent it over, and I've looked it over pretty carefully. If you notice the "crosshair" pattern scattered in neat rows across Jack's face (such as the one next to his lip), you'll figure out that this is supposed to be seen through something like a security camera. I suppose this is a stylized effect, to make the cover that much more noticable to the consumers (trying to get them to buy it). Bear in mind, though, that Fox could still change this design before release. But it is interesting to see what they're thinking of using! Moreover, the ad has the following text that describes the disc count and the extras: Every second counts in this groundbreaking hit series! Seven-disc set contains all 24 Season Three episodes, plus cast/crew commentaries and hours of exclusive extras. Available Winter 2004. The "Winter 2004" mention meshes neatly with the December 2004 timeframe we described in our last news post, which a Fox executive told us just very recently. The ad may have been in-the-works before the particular month had been decided on. This ad also mentions that the first two seasons are already available, but it's only natural for Fox to remind their customers of that. Bear in mind that this new Fox TV-DVD ad isn't too easy to find yet. My own copy of The Simpsons - The Complete 4th Season, purchased on its street date a month ago, still had the old TV-DVD ad from Fox, and the new ad isn't in Gord's review copy of Millennium- Season 1 (due out this coming Tuesday), either. Stay tuned, and we'll get back to you with more details about this release, as they continue to become available.
