24 star Kiefer Sutherland made an appearance this past Friday (May 21st) on
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, where they ended with interview with
a mention that a complete collection of all 8 seasons of
24 would indeed be coming out at some point (and we're sure it will cost far less then $25,000 ...which was Jay's joking speculation about the price point). At the end of the show that night, following a performance by
American Idol alumni Adam Lambert, the credits began to roll, and included a written notice (see screen capture at bottom) that "
'24' Season 8 Blu-ray DVD and The Complete Series Available December 7."
As of this writing, Fox Home Entertainment has NOT announced these titles, nor solicited them to retailers. However, Amazon.com has begun taking pre-orders for
24 - The Complete 8th Season on both
DVD and on high-def
Blu-ray Disc. Because these listings are prior to the official Fox announcement of the title, though, Amazon doesn't show the street date yet on these entries, but only says "
This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." Pricing is available, however, at $59.98 SRP for the DVD and $69.99 SRP for the Blu-ray (you can, of course, lock in your copy at a discount if you order it using one of the above links). There are no other details available so far at Amazon's entry, nor is there cover art for the Blu version, but just below you can find the DVD package art, showing that it will be a 6-disc set.
What about Amazon listings for
The Complete Series? We weren't able to find any yet. Stay tuned, however, and we'll update you further on these releases, just as soon as we find out anything more! Our thanks to the many readers who e-mailed us over the weekend with this info.
