We
reported last week that Fox Home Entertainment will release
24 - Season 1: Special Edition, a new 7-DVD collection of the first "day" in the extraordinary adventures of agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). The
May 20th release, which includes an extra disc (the seventh in the set) full of new-to-DVD bonus material, was unofficial at the time of our previous story.
This morning, though, Fox Home Entertainment formally announced the title, confirming all the information we previously had been given by our industry contacts. Now, within the past couple of hours, they have revealed a picture of the tin packaging, and we've hurried to be among the first to show it to you!
As you can see, there is a an instant-rebate coupon attached to specially marked copies, getting a $15 savings when this item is purchased on the same receipt as any other season of
24. Nice!

CORRECTION (3/12/08): In our story above we had originally referred to the package as "steelbook", and have replaced that with the word "tin". The actual studio material never referred to the packaging using that word, and we've been contacted by Scanavo N.A. Ltd., who are the owners of the "steelbook" trademark and producers of that variety of packaging. They inform us that they are NOT providing the packaging for
24 - Season 1: Special Edition, and requested that we print this retraction. TVShowsOnDVD regrets the error, and any confusion it caused.
