Hey, apologies, but we took about a week longer to get this news to you than we meant to! We've had so many great news stories lately that we missed passing on word to you sent in two Wednesdays ago from reader "Joren C." He passed along a tip to us that the [adult swim] series
12 Oz. Mouse, from Matt Maiellaro (the co-creator of
Aqua Teen Hunger Force), is coming to DVD. It's first mentioned
near the end of an interview with Maiellaro at Shrieking Tree's website:
Also, I know that it's a bit early to be asking, but will there be a 12 oz. Mouse DVD, and are the rumors true about it containing the option to watch the series as a seamless movie?
There will be a 12 oz. DVD. We are producing cut scenes to link each episode into a seamless movie and there will be no option to run it as episodes. I don’t have a release date right now.
Then, since August 9th, there's been a post at
CorndogCentral.com (the main site for
12 Oz. Mouse), asking fans to submit fan art for the DVD, to be included as extras in a photo gallery. That submission process was closed on August 17th, so don't worry about getting that done in a hurry...it's too late. We apologize for that, but we weren't informed about this until after the deadline (too bad the people at the show didn't send us the heads up earlier, instead of leaving it to the fans to pass the word).
Joren, the reader who did take time to alert us to the info, writes that the message at Corndog Central used to be more extensive than we presently see. Among the info not present any longer (so perhaps this idea has been scrapped), that had written "
We are going to include a puzzle somewhere on the DVD and cool prizes will be sent to the first 10 people who can figure it out. Details to follow."
So, it's all a bit confusing right now, but it looks like the show IS on the way to DVD, and that's the important part. Stay tuned and we'll update you when the official studio announcement comes through. Thanks again to Joren, and all of our other readers who take time day-in and day-out to send us great info like this! We may not have time to respond to every e-mail (we try!), but we certainly read every one of them.
UPDATE: Justin Norman, who did the Shrieking Tree interview mentioned above, has written to us with a much-appreciated update! He points us toward
this post at the [adult swim] message board, telling us that the timeframe for the DVD release has been pushed back. But, because of that, they've extended the deadline for the fan submissions as well. Here is the exact quote:
I have an update.
The bad news, The DVD has been pushed back to the end of the year.
The GOOD news, we're extending the deadline for art to Mid November and I'm going to be putting more stuff on it. I'll be at Dragon Con next week looking for Mouse stuff, so let me know if you'll be there and I'll snap a picture of you.
Thanks, Justin, for the heads-up! Stay tuned, everyone, and we'll be sure to give you official info from the studio once Warner makes a formal announcement.
